EEIP is a consulting and investment advisory firm specializing in mergers and acquisitions, corporate finance, enterprise restructuring, valuations and policy advice to government and private clients. Michal Mejstrik is the Chief Executive of EEIP. Since 1991 he has been in charge of a company that has organized numerous transactions resulting in the privatization of Czech companies as well as in the sale of privatized companies to foreign and domestic buyers.

Prior to founding EEIP, Mr. Mejstrik served as one of the principal advisors to the Czech government on the design and implementation of its privatization program. Between 1995-1998 EEIP was a leading advisor to the Czech Fund for National Property, the agency responsible for sale of strategic assets. On its behalf, EEIP had sold 19 medium to large sized companies.

Major recent transactions are: purchase in 2000 by Eastman Chemical of Chemicke zavody Sokolov (acting as financial advisor to Eastman), purchase by Siemens AG of CKD DS, formerly the largest tram and metro producer in the world, in 2002 (acting as the divestment advisor on the sell side), purchase in 2001 of 40% shareholding of Nafta Gbely, the largest gas storage company in Slovak Republic, by Westfaelische Ferngas AG (acting together with WestLB Panmure as the financial advisor on the buy side), purchase in 2002 by RWE AG of Czech gas transit and distribution companies for € 4.1 billion., the largest transaction in Central Europe to date (acting together with Merrill Lynch, Commerzbank and WestLB Panmure as the acquisition advisor on the buy side) and currently acting, together with WestLB and McKinsey, as the divestment advisor for the Czech government in sale of Unipetrol holding company which owns the bulk of crude oil refining and petrochemical industry in the Czech Republic. Beginning in the early 1990’s Prof. Mejstrik also began providing advice on privatization and post privatization restructuring in many countries including the Baltic countries, Kazakhstan, Russia, Ukraine and more recently in the utility sector in Kosovo and Serbia. In addition to his role in EEIP, Prof. Mejstrik continues to teach corporate finance at ancient Charles University of Prague (http://ies.fsv.cuni.cz/) where he holds a professorship in banking and financial economics, while also presiding over the Institute of Economic Studies, a premier think tank sponsored by that university.
