|
|
Dr. Hannon undertook an engagement with the Agency for International Development to develop its first democracy strategy paper for Latin America. The paper outlined broad goals and potential strategies for USAID to pursue over many years. It also provided background and analysis of longer-term trends and developments in Latin America. This strategy subsequently became a paradigm for the development of other democracy strategy papers by USAID for other regions.

MIC HII provided consulting advice and support to Scholastic, Inc. a billion dollar a year publisher of books for children to win a $5 million grant from the U.S. Department of State Middle East Partnership Initiative. The program will provide early reading books in classroom libraries in several Middle Eastern countries. Although the project has educational goals and objectives it has a larger policy rationale to win the hearts and minds of young people in the Middle East by promoting literacy and more contact with American culture and values.
